This page contains Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about career advancement by way of post graduate degrees from Foreign Universities offering MBAs in Malaysia.  MBA courses have been the most sought after post graduate qualifications to improve management skills and to advance in career opportunities.  In the past few years, with the encouragement of the government to improve on the quality of the local work force, greater emphasis has been placed on executive MBAs.  With certain years of working experience, most executives with an average of 2 to 10 years of working experience qualifies for entry depending on their academic qualifications.  This rule is less strict with foreign university than with local public universities.  Choosing the right university program can be some what challenging when it is run or managed by a local institution of higher learning that may not have the necessary requirements for quality education.  These are guidelines that would help you seek the right MBA programs.

  • Reputation - Not all foreign universities have similar reputation and rating criteria differs from one to the other.  These will depend on your needs and budget.
  • Authorized agencies - There 2 bodies that grant approvals and Qualifications for institutions of higher learning in conducting MBA programs in Malaysia.  They are the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and Malaysia Qualification Agency.  Both have differing functions but compliments each other.
  • Approval - Approved is a step before gaining full accreditation from Malaysia Qualification Agency.  Approval are usually granted to institutions of higher learning once a proposal for a specific program is being process for accreditation. The process may take several years.
  • Accreditation - Accreditation by Malaysia Qualification Agency which is the sole authorized independent academic accreditation agency in Malaysia is a must for recognition in Malaysia.
  • Quality - Research universities has the highest quality rating. 
  • Award - Awards, affiliations and charters are signs of excellence in academic achievements, faculty research and governmental recognition.
  • Employability rating - In Malaysia, 95% of foreign university grads find employment within 3 months of graduation.
  • Affordability - Most are affordable for working executives, tuition fee priced at average Malaysian local MBA
  • Special Financial Plan - EPF withdrawal and personal financial planning scheme
  • Facilities - Universities are not allowed to conduct post graduate classes without proper facilities, registered organization, library facilities, computer lab, hostel and lecture venues.
  • Location - An important factor.  Most are in prime location and conducive for education
  • Teaching Staff - 80% PhD lecturers, all qualified.
  • Degree conferment - Must be direct from Universities.

Do foreign universities offering MBA programs in Malaysia approved by MQA?

Only foreign MBA programs that are approved by Malaysian Qualifications Agency should be considered in your shopping list.  There are certain cases that students have been through to the very end of the course program to find that their degree was never approved by MQA. 

MQA qualifications takes a duration of approximately 2 years to gain approval.

How Do I Qualify For A Place in an MBA program?

Candidates with a first degree or professional qualification or its equivalent and working experience of at least two (2) years should apply.  Alternatively, for those mature candidates without any tertiary education but with extensive, appropriate managerial experience can also earn enrolment.

Enrolment is also base on two other important criteria , which is access to an organization to undertake work-based assignments and acceptable fluency in the English Language.

Selected candidates may also be required to attend a counseling session.

Where Are The Lectures Being Conducted?

Although they are foreign universities, many has articulation agreements with local universities to conduct classes locally.

MBA classes run on weekends which is Saturdays and Sundays, for one full semester of 3 months duration.  This schedule would give the students the flexibility to equally spend time in between family and friends and class load.

There is also opportunity for applicants from out side Kuala Lumpur to have classes in their respective cities so long as there is a minimum of 15 successful applicant from within one location.

What Is The Program Duration Like?

MBA programs can be completed within 18 to 24 months but with an option to a maximum completion duration of 60 months with written permission.  On the average students graduate in 24 months.

Do these foreign MBA programs accept transfer credits?

Yes, students attending graduate schools of other recognized institution of higher learning are welcome to transfer applicable credits for exemptions.

What are the mode of payment?

There are four methods of payment to the program that is accepted,

  1. Cash
  2. Bank Draft, Banker's Order or Check
  3. Major Credit Cards
  4. Bank loans - study loans
  5. EPF withdrawal - can be arranged for successful candidates

Can students pay in installments?

Yes, there many easy payment schemes.  Private universities and colleges do offer their own easy payment schemes.

 
   

Do you assist in arranging for EPF Withdrawal?

Yes, knowing that many of our applicants are busy executives, we will arrange for application to EPF  withdrawal towards payable fees for your MBA provided that you furnish complete documentation required.  EPF withdrawal process will usually take between 4 to 6 weeks.

How long has the MBA program been running in Malaysia?

In general MBA programs have been actively around for more then 10 years and of late event more have emerged from the government's call for improved management skills.  There are much opportunity with the MBA in Malaysia as only a very small fraction of the working class have equipped themselves with this post graduate qualifications.
